ADHD Therapy for Women in Marin County

You’ve been holding it together for a long time. But it shouldn’t have to feel this hard.

Many of the women I work with don’t fit the stereotype they grew up associating with ADHD. They’re smart. Capable. Driven. Often high-achieving. They may have earned advanced degrees, built careers, raised families, managed complicated schedules, or become the person everyone else relies on. But maintaining that level of functioning can come at an enormous cost.

ADHD Can Look Different in Women and Girls, Showing Up As…

  • Chronic overwhelm and mental exhaustion

  • Procrastination followed by intense bursts of productivity

  • Difficulty starting or finishing seemingly simple tasks

  • Time blindness and running late despite trying not to

  • Forgetfulness and executive functioning challenges

  • Perfectionism and fear of disappointing people

  • Overthinking and difficulty making decisions

  • Emotional sensitivity or difficulty regulating emotions

  • Anxiety that has never fully explained what you’re experiencing

  • Feeling overstimulated or touched-out

  • Burnout from constantly compensating

  • Feeling like you should be able to handle life better than you do

For some women, these patterns become much harder to manage during motherhood, major life transitions, or perimenopause, leading them to consider ADHD for the first time.

“How Did Nobody Notice This Before?”

This is one of the most common questions I hear from women diagnosed with ADHD later in life.

Many women become incredibly skilled at compensating for their challenges. Intelligence, perfectionism, people-pleasing, anxiety, rigid systems, and working twice as hard can hide ADHD for years.

You may have spent decades believing that your struggles were character flaws rather than differences in how your brain manages attention, motivation, time, emotion, and executive functioning.

Understanding ADHD can provide an entirely different framework for making sense of your life.

Therapy isn't about using ADHD as an excuse. It's about finally having the right information so you can stop fighting your brain and start working with it.

ADHD and Anxiety Often Travel Together

Sometimes women come to me knowing they have ADHD. Others have spent years thinking anxiety was the whole story.

The two can become deeply intertwined.

You might worry because you forget things. Overprepare because you’re afraid you’ll miss something. Become perfectionistic because making mistakes feels especially painful. Or rely on anxiety to create enough urgency to finally get something done.

Part of our work can be understanding what’s underneath these patterns—and finding healthier ways to manage both ADHD and anxiety.

FACT: ADHD is often misdiagnosed in women as Anxiety or Depression for years and years until perimenopause/hormonal changes happen and it becomes too hard to manage…

ADHD Therapy That Works in Real Life…

You probably don't need another elaborate planner, complicated morning routine, or productivity system that works beautifully for four days and then disappears into a drawer.

Our work is practical, collaborative, and grounded in your actual life.

I use evidence-based approaches including CBT and ACT to help women better understand their ADHD, recognize patterns that aren't serving them, build realistic executive functioning strategies, manage anxiety and emotional overwhelm, and develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves.

The goal isn't to turn you into someone who never forgets an appointment, loses her keys, gets overwhelmed, or has 37 tabs open.

The goal is to help you build a life that works better for your brain.
